Application difference of different additives in three kinds of blood collection vessels

There are many different colors for disposable vacuum blood collection vessels. Different colors of the head cover indicate that the anticoagulant or accelerator added in the blood collection vessels are different, so the corresponding functional application is also different. Different colors of the head cover and labels can also strengthen the identification to prevent the wrong use of blood vessels.

1、 Coagulation promoting tube with golden safety head cover

Inert separation gel and accelerator were added into the blood collection vessel. After centrifugation of blood samples, the inert separation gel can completely separate the liquid components (serum or plasma) and solid components (red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, fibrin, etc.) in the blood, and completely accumulate in the center of the test tube to form a barrier. The samples remain stable within 48 hours. Coagulant can quickly activate coagulation mechanism and accelerate coagulation process, which is suitable for emergency serum biochemical test.

2、 Purple safety head cover, EDTA anticoagulant tube

EDTA tube is used for blood routine test of blood examination. EDTA chelates with calcium ion in blood to inhibit coagulation process. It is suitable for general hematology test, not for coagulation test and platelet function test, nor for determination of calcium ion, potassium ion, sodium ion, iron ion, alkaline phosphatase, creatine kinase and leucine aminopeptidase, and PCR test; it has the least effect on red blood cell morphology, and can inhibit platelet aggregation. The spray method is usually used to make the reagent uniformly attached to the tube wall, so that the blood sample can be quickly and fully mixed after sampling.

3、 Green safety head cover, heparin anticoagulant tube

Heparin sodium or heparin lithium can prolong the initial clotting time. Heparin anticoagulant tube is suitable for red blood cell fragility test, blood gas analysis, hematocrit test, erythrocyte sedimentation rate and biochemical determination. It is not suitable for hemagglutination test. It has less interference to blood components, does not affect the volume of red blood cells, and does not cause hemolysis.

In addition to the above three kinds of blood collection vessels, the common ones are the red head cap tube without additives, the blue head cap sodium citrate anticoagulant tube, and the black head cap blood sedimentation tube.
